I want to talk animation, but I have nobody to talk to it with
In case you're new here, hey I'm Vidknight and I love art, and animation the whole medium is just incredibly beautiful to me and the stuff you can create with it is insane, Right now I'm trying to get better at animating and is working on a big project for an animation jam on newgrounds.
Despite how much I like animation there really feel like very little places to talk animation. Maybe it's just me, but I'm absolutely struggling to find a place to just talk animation and everything about relating to it.
My main friend group/circle is great don't get me wrong! But nobody there really has a strong passion for animation like me which while fair, is kind of a bummer.
Aside from the NG animation forum and this blog, there is like nowhere for me to talk animation, which is frustrating as all hell!
I heard the idea of "Just join discord server" and I tried that once and it sucks having to constantly keep bouncing between different discord servers, and just leaving once I find out I don't connect with the community there, or isn't what I'm looking for. (This isn't getting to all the problems with discord as a platform)
In the possible hundreds of discord server I bounced between (Not counting servers for friend groups) I only found 2 that I vibed with that talks about animation, and that was by complete accident, and even then the server are kind of cliquey and is kind of hard entering as an outsider.
I want to talk about the process from idea to final product!
I want to share WIP scenes and get feedback from other animators
I absolutely love everything about this medium and it sucks that I'm struggling to find a group to actually talk about animation.
The most annoying part (For me at least) is that I know that there are groups like that! How do I know? Because I joined a discord server for voice actors called VAC (Voice actor club) and seen basically everything I want in an animation server.
For my big animation that I'm working on for the NG cooking animation Jam I needed some voice actors so I looked up where to find free voice actors and eventually found this server. Put up my casting call and decided to look around.
What I found was a literal perfect community for voice actors! A community that is filled with people helping each other out, casting call for different types of media, and even a channel by the mods where they warn other voice actors about scams.
I'm not saying that's a bad thing OFC it's great that voice actors (Both SFW and NSFW) from all skill levels have a place where they can get together and talk about voice acting.
But man I can't help but feel jealous looking at that server and thinking "WHERE IS THE ANIMATION VERSION OF IT?!" lmao
Anyway this blog is mostly just me complaining for complaining sake and I do know that one day I will find my tribe of animators no matter how long it takes!
