Random Long Rambles

the vast majority of internet drama does not fucking matter!

So there I am going through some random internet drama I found myself in, not even saying anything just randomly scrolling through a bunch of stuff and looking at these long comment chains.

It had been like 4-5 hours and I'm still scrolling, this whole thing is just addicting that I couldn't put down, until out of pure frustration I just force closed reddit, deleted discord1, put a block on it, and started pacing around my room until I cooled off.

That experience is unfortunately pretty common, I feel that this has to do with my ADHD, but also due to just me being bored and my brain just deciding to hop on reddit even though I know how bad it is.

And it's always the same crap I scroll through a bunch of random meaningless drama that doesn't matter. It was until today after I did the same unhealthy shit once again for the billionth time. I got frustrated and wanted to write a blog about internet drama, and how absolutely pointless it is.

This blog has honestly been a long time coming and I wanted to rant about it for a while now, I figured now that I actually have ADHD medicine that works, I can finally tackle this, get my thoughts out, and hopefully cut down on this unhealthy habit once and for all.

No better way to get started than with...

E-Celebs!

OH BOY WE ARE STARTING OFF WITH A DOOZY!

E-celebs2 if you don't know are what internet celebrities are called. These are usually streamers, youtubers, or somebody along those lines.

Just like real celebrities some (most) are usually involved in some sort of drama, and also like real celebrities most of these is completely fucking nothing.

Asmongold, Destiny, Hasan, H3H3, Idubbz, and the basically infinite clones of these guys are all complete and udder bullshit. Everything I learned about these guys has been against my will!

And all of the things I heard has just been complete and udder nonsense and for some reason everybody and their mom is fighting for these guys?

Side note no I don't want to learn anymore about these clowns, cause everything I heard made it sound like these guys and their fans are just insufferable to be around.

Asmongold especially since the only thing I heard is just a bunch of gross shit. I remember one time seeing a clip of this guy just drinking water, getting disgusted, and washing it down with some soda...

THIS IS WHO WE ARE FIGHTING FOR? THE GUY WHO CAN'T EVEN DRINK A CUP OF WATER?!

There are so many more talented and intelligent people who deserve our attention more, but NOPE. Lets all talk about the guy who has to use a fucking dead rat to wake him up in the morning and have cockroaches crawl on him during stream3!

As you can tell E-celebs to me at least is mostly a joke and the drama surrounding them even more so, it's mostly just a bunch of jackasses constantly slap fighting each other over nothing.

but at least you can make the argument that since these guys are real, it makes sense (I don't believe it, but I can somewhat see it)

You know what does not make any sense though?

Fandom drama!

(CW: Suicide is mentioned here, but it's a small part, if that makes you uncomfortable, I recommend skipping this part)

Fun fact Absurd Pirate's blog about TADC and fandoms does somewhat talk about this, but I want to into a bit more depth here since I used to be somewhat involved in fandoms 4

But like I mentioned at least with the e-celeb junk it feature real people so you can possibly make an argument for why it's not pointless.

But fandom stuff? Basically no excuse here there's no reason for any of this garbage. it's basically endless drama, controversy, and fighting over fictional characters.

WE LIVE IN A WORLD WITH SOME MANY PROBLEMS! War, Hunger, Racism, Lgbtphobia. There is stuff going on in your country, city, neighborhood, on your block, hell even stuff going on with you personally inside of yourself.

But sure lets just spend all our time fighting and arguing over somebody drawing two fictional characters kissing, or slightly weird fanart! It's not like there is a billion and one other more important problems this is obviously the most important!

Yea usually it's mostly teens doing this stuff5, but there are times I see people in mid 20s, early 30s, sometime late 30s, also participating, and it just what! Why? there has to be more things going on in your life than just slapfighting over a guy named smhiggledorf!

Sometime this can get even worse as people will straight up push somebody into attempting suicide because people harassed them over drawing a Steven Universe character slightly thinner.

I sure do wish that people would actually put their time and energy into something important, but guess not!

This is not me saying "You should fix every problem in the world!", but if you have the time to argue over characters in a children cartoon, you have the time to do literally anything else.

But Vidknight!

You might be saying "why do you say that most internet drama does not matter, and why does it matter for you to get all of this out?"

And to that I'm going have to bring up a netflix stand up comedy special I watched first. (It's all going to make sense I promise you).

The special is by Russell Howard, and it's called "Recalibrate"6.

one thing I remember is close to the end of the special in which he told a story about a conversation he had with his father.

He wanted to know what the meaning of life was if we all going to die, and his dad talked about how he believe the meaning to be about having good experiences and all of those experience playing back in your mind in your final moments.

Of course the answer was just his thoughts there are many answer to the question "What's the meaning of life". but that unironically stuck with me for the longest time and still do.

Everything we do, make, believe, it is all building up to this grand photo reel, or movie of some sort that showcase our entire lives.

This could be anything it can be the places we traveled, and all the amazing sights, different culture, and unique people the world has to offer.

It can be about your relationships the people you surrounded yourself with, all the friends you made, the love for your parents, partner, ya kids, even just acquaintances you are nice too.

If you're like me a creative it can be about all the art pieces you created. In my case it's mostly animation, 3d models, and 3d art. But depending on who you are it can be music you created, paintings you painted, films you directed, games you created/programed, heck even dances you came up with in ya bedroom.

This photo reel/movie can be about anything! Here's where we loop back to my point, about internet drama... basically it's nothing, it's like a blank photo/scene at best, or a complete unpleasant ugly one at worse.

This trash does not improve your life, does not give you any good memories, does not make any change in the world whatsoever, all it does is make you and me miserable for no reason.

Tell me with a show of hands, how many of yall would actually watch a movie where a guy does nothing, but sits at his desk and get into internet fights with strangers and doomscrolling7?

This is why I'm so adamant about it not mattering our lives is short, and also unpredictable tomorrow we could be dead and wouldn't even know it, and when we do eventually unfortunally pass on... do we want to only remember all of this?

Most likely no.

And now to go back to me is this what I want to spend my life doing? Getting into angry fights over a children mobile game?, Looking at the random twitch streamer drama of the day?, browsing reddit looking at a bunch of random pointless drama?

The answer might shock you, but no.

  1. I get on reddit through discord, long ass story which involves a ton a app blockers

  2. Electronic celebs if you want to know what the E stands for

  3. Side note: I used to be in the same situation when I was a 8-15, but the difference was that my living was caused by my family poor financial status at the time, what the hell is his excuse?

  4. I still occasionally poke my head in some communities and usually regret it pretty hard.

  5. I say at 20 years old, lmao.

  6. Pretty inappropriate, raunchy, and might not be for everyone, but I like it, and found some parts incredibly funny.

  7. Fun fact war of the world 2025 is somewhat like this and even though I haven't watch the movie since I don't have prime, this seems like the best worse movie ever, so bad it's good, and I lowkey am I sucker for that type of movie, and want to watch it.
